Fortrose Optimyst Electric Stove

Not at all — the Dimplex Fortrose is fully electric, so there's nothing to burn and nothing to vent. That means no chimney, no flue, and no ventilation work, which opens up rooms a traditional fire could never go near, from a flat with no chimney breast to an internal wall.

The Dimplex Fortrose is freestanding, so you can place it wherever suits your room without any fixed installation. There's no chimney, flue, or ventilation work involved, so it's a genuinely straightforward addition to a room rather than a renovation project.

Yes — flip the heat off and the flame keeps going. The Dimplex Fortrose's flame-only setting means it's just as much at home creating atmosphere on a warm summer evening as it is throwing out heat in December.

Everything on the Dimplex Fortrose is in your hands via the controls on the front of the unit, letting you dial the flame and heat in independently to match the moment. It has multiple heat settings (Off, 1.0kW, 2.0kW).

The Dimplex Fortrose puts out 2kW of adjustable warmth — enough for genuine everyday heating, not just a token gesture, with the flexibility to ease it back for gentler background warmth or turn it up when the room really needs it.

The Dimplex Fortrose runs on Dimplex's Optimyst technology, which uses a fine water-vapour mist rather than LEDs alone to create a genuinely soft, smoke-like flame and smoulder — the kind of depth and gentle movement that flat LED displays struggle to match. That said, flame effects are a matter of taste, so it's well worth watching a demo video before you commit to the look for your room.

Yes — it's what makes the effect work. The Dimplex Fortrose uses Optimyst's water-vapour technology to produce its flame and smoke display, so there's a small tank to top up now and then. It's entirely separate from the electrics and has no bearing on the heat output.
